I woke up a little earlier today and decided I'd go out and rent a moped. I talked to a woman from my cooking class last night and she said I could get an automatic for around 250-300 baht. For some reason, I had it in my head that they would be more expensive. So, I found a place this morning and after a short trial and explanation, I headed out to explore. I found the "Big Budha" relatively easily. It's a huge golden monument in a rather outlandishly tourist temple. I hung out there for a little while and then decided to head back the way I had come. Somewhere a little while there after, I noticed I was passing things that I definitely didn't remember. Not wanting to turn around, I just kept going. By the time I figured I probably should have turned around, I was way too far gone to do much but keep going. I ended up going completely around the island and burning my legs and arms pretty well. It was ok though. I wish I would have gotten up the gumshin to rent a moped earlier. If I come back to Thailand, I know I'll definitely get one right away. It's so much easier that relying on others to take you everywhere...even if there is the chance of getting lost. I still have the scooter until tomorrow. I'm gonna try to wake up early to go see a few things that I drove by today and didn't feel like stopping to see. Till then....I'm gonna lather up my legs and arms with plenty of aloe and try not to itch too much.
